Fitted for Work

Fitted for Work works with women who face major obstacles in securing employment including women who have been imprisoned and women who have overcome drug addictions. Many of the women we help are long term unemployed, single mothers who must look for work when their youngest child turns six or who, suddenly, because of death or separation, find themselves as the breadwinner. Newly arrived migrants and refugees also welcome the support of Fitted for Work.

The stories of our women may vary but they have much in common:

  • A strong desire to be financially independent
  • A wish to terminate their reliance on welfare
  • Feeling daunted by the prospect of embarking on the search for work
  • Low self confidence and a sense of unworthiness
  • No exposure to, or a long absence from, the workplace
  • Have nothing suitable to wear to an interview or to work

In preparation for opening Fitted for Work Sydney we have a small but committed group of volunteers who have registered to:

  • Assist with fundraising
  • Coordinate clothing donations
  • Assist women through styling, grooming and clothing advice as well as interview techniques and preparing for employment

If you would like to assist with this work or make a donation of clothing or money please contact:
